How to Mute Instagram Stories

Muting Instagram Stories allows you to hide someone’s stories from your feed without unfollowing them. Here’s how you can mute Instagram Stories:

From the Stories Feed:

  1. Open Instagram: Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone.
  2. Stories Feed: At the top of your home feed or explore page, you’ll see circles with profile pictures indicating Stories from people you follow.
  3. Mute a Story:
    • Locate the profile whose Stories you want to mute.
    • Press and hold on their profile picture in the Stories feed.
    • A small menu will appear. Tap on “Mute.”
  4. Mute Options:
    • You’ll be presented with options to mute just their Stories, just their posts, or both.
    • Select “Mute Story” to mute only their Stories.

From the Profile:

  1. Open Instagram: Launch the Instagram app.
  2. Find the Profile: Search for and visit the profile of the user whose Stories you want to mute.
  3. Mute the Stories:
    • Tap on the three dots (…) at the top right corner of their profile.
    • From the dropdown menu, select “Mute.”
  4. Choose Mute Option:
    • You’ll see options to mute their Stories, their posts, or both.
    • Select “Mute Story” to mute only their Stories.

Unmuting:

If you want to unmute someone’s Stories:

  1. From the Stories Feed:
    • Locate their profile picture in the Stories feed.
    • Press and hold on their profile picture, and then tap “Unmute.”
  2. From the Profile:
    • Visit their profile.
    • Tap on the three dots (…) at the top right corner and select “Unmute.”

Remember that when you mute someone’s Stories, their Stories will no longer appear in your Stories feed, but you’ll still be following them and their posts will appear in your regular feed. This feature is useful for managing your Instagram feed and customizing the content you see without unfollowing accounts.
